Winemaking in Southeastern Europe has a rich and storied history dating back to the 8th Century BCE, but during the 1950s, the communist governments of the region collectivized winemaking under government control, driving quantity over quality in the wines. During the 1990s, as communist governments were dissolved, these winery properties began to be returned to the private sector, and the long process of reparations to the original property owners and families was under way. Today, these countries have a growing and thriving wine industry, combining the modern with the historic to produce world class wines that are just now starting to gain worldwide attention.
For this tasting, we welcome Tomislav Vostinic (tentative) of VK Winery, Croatia, and Matic Rodica of Rodica Winery, Slovenia, for a Happy Hour Meet & Greet. This will be a casual come-and-go tasting, including 6 wines and light snacks for just $20/person. Advance tickets are required, and can be purchased below.
